Emergency Response

A disaster is no time to start learning.

We're standing up an Emergency Response Unit: trained members who can deploy to a natural disaster or major emergency and be useful from the first hour. Rescue support, debris and access, emergency communications, logistics. Always alongside the authorities running the response, never in place of them.

Rope and rescue work over rough ground.

When a tornado, a flood or a major emergency hits the Heartland, the first hours are chaos and the professional responders are stretched thin. A disciplined group of trained people, organized ahead of time and ready to take direction, can make those hours count. That is what this unit is for. It is forming now, during the founding phase, and it grows as our members train.

What the unit does

Rescue support

Trained hands to assist search and rescue: moving safely over bad ground, helping reach and carry people out, and holding a cordon so the professionals can work.

Debris and access

Clearing downed trees and debris, opening roads and driveways, and getting help and supplies where vehicles cannot reach.

Emergency communications

Standing up radio nets when the cell network is down, and relaying traffic between responders, shelters and families.

Logistics and welfare

Water, shelter, power, and the quiet work of accounting for people, so the professionals can stay focused on the emergency.

We support. We don't take over.

The unit deploys only when it is asked, and it works under the incident command already in place. We do not self-deploy into an active scene, we do not get in the way of professional responders, and we do not take on anything we are not trained and equipped to do safely. Everything the unit does is lawful, coordinated, and in support of the people whose job this is.

Who leads it

The Emergency Management seat leads the unit. It is one of the founding leadership seats we're filling now: the person who builds the plan, runs the training, and stands up the coordination this takes. If that is your background, we want to talk.

Train for it now.

The unit is only as good as the people in it. Join the Founding Cadre to help build it, or request an invitation for when membership opens.
